Arcadia project
Title: Video Games Arcade

ONGOING DEVELOPMENT TEXT:

A space - a room, a cozy bedroom, a guest room, a spare room, a bedsit - a place.

 

The arcade room - guns drawn, no choreography, no narrative arc but the grip, the pointing, the feeling, the glamour embedded in the holding and the pointing. 

 

The gunslinger, the gangster, the fantasy, the power, controlling - controlled.

 

it’s outsider and it’s outside of the real - through the doors where the world drives on and on and on.

 

Inside a hidden Disneyland, a topographical urban hinterland. Beyond the glare and the self-surveillance, a return to the lights and the bells of the fairground.

 

In here is not out there. In here distracts and disconnects, a real unreal, a taste of something, a flavour. 

 

But the decor, the saturated tight pile carpet and the dimmed nightclub lights - Disneyland in the rearview - bitter and soured.
